TastebudsNYC Brooklyn Greenmarket Bike Tour, Saturday, October 11th
Meet
Greenmarket farmers, nosh your way through some of Brooklyn's finest
farmers' markets, and go on a fun bike ride with TastebudsNYC!
The air is crisp, the leaves are changing colors, and the farmers'
markets are on the cusp of fall. All this means that now is the best
time to EAT! Work up an appetite as we bike the Saturday Brooklyn
Greenmarkets and eat fall's bounty. The tour begins at the base of the
Williamsburg Bridge (on the Manhattan side) as we exodus off the island
and into Brooklyn. Our first stop is McCarren Park, where Baker's
Bounty will supply us with some of their tasty scones and muffins for
breakfast; we'll move on to press apple cider at Brooklyn Borough Hall,
tour the Ft. Greene market with a neighborhood chef, and taste cheese
from some of the region's finest. We'll end our insider's tour at
Brooklyn's largest Greenmarket, Grand Army Plaza, with a
market-inspired lunch in the park.
Space is limited, so please RSVP to Heidi@tastebudsnyc.com. For more information, visit www.tastebudsnyc.com. Cost, $15.

TastebudsNYC welcomes special guest Rick Field from Rick's Pick's: Wednesday, October 8th, 6:30 - 9:30, Drop Off Service, 211 Avenue A
*Rick's Pick's began humbly making
pickles out of his cramped apartment in Brooklyn, using only the best
Greenmarket ingredients he could find. After positive feedback from
friends and family, and after blowing away the competetion at several
pickle contests, Rick decided there was no turning back. In March of
2004, Rick made it official and started his pickling business. Today,
he still finds time to experiment with new flavors and combinations.
Most days you can find him in his studio on the LES or at the Union
Square Greenmarket.
TastebudsNYC turns one year old! Help us celebrate on September 3rd!

Red Hook Bike Tour

11:30 am: meet at Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket,
Prospect Park West and Flatbush in Brooklyn. We won't spend much time
here, but you can arrive early if you'd like to shop. Once we're all
gathered, we'll move on together to Red Hook.
12:00 pm: Soccer Tacos - Thank goodness they're back! You
don't actually have to order a taco at this congregation of Latin and
South American vendors. There's also papusas, quesadillas and horchata
to wash it all down.
1:00 pm: Added Value Farm
- Added Value is a perfect example of urban agriculture. Nestled among
the buildings of Red Hook is this farm started by two Brooklynites and
run by teens of the neighborhood. Every Saturday they have a market to
sell their veggies and the first Saturday of the month is always full
of fun activities.
2:00 pm: Sixpoint Craft Ale - our own tour of my favorite (and it will be yours too, if it's not already) locally brewed beer!
Possible post-brewery stops include Steve's Key Lime Pies and Baked
